Album Info:Well, Chicago Ridge isn't really my hometown, but it is my current place of residence. It never really occurred to me to try and find places to take pictures around here because I'm always in Blue Island, Dolton, Berwyn or several other locations. Today was unseasonably cold and drizzly so I decided to stay close to home. The majority of the pics in this album come from Chicago Ridge Crossing where the IHB crosses the NS/Metra Southwest Service line. This area is fairly well known to railfans but not too many people take pics there because of access problems. The crossing itself is difficult to access due to trespassing issues. However, today I noticed a new townhouse complex going up at Ridgeland and Washington and I stumbled across a Metra parking lot that runs along the IHB where Oxford Ave dead-ends north of Birmingham Street in the SE quadrant of the crossing. The lot provides a great view of the IHB and is reasonably close to the NS/Metra diamonds to get good shots with a decent zoom lens. The IHB and NS/Metra lines both bisect Chicago Ridge and Oak Lawn by making an "X", the diamonds of the "X" being just northeast of 103rd and Ridgeland. All pics in this album were taken between 1pm and 3:30pm CST.
